The Al Hamra Tower is a skyscraper in downtown Kuwait City, Kuwait. Designed by architectural firm Skidmore, Owings and Merrilll, the tower is the tallest building in Kuwait at 414 m (1,358 ft). The tower will include 98,000m2 (1,050,000 sq ft) of commercial and office space. The building will connect to a five-story retail mall which totals 23,000m2 (250,000 sq ft) of retail space and will include an integrated theater complex and an 11-story carpark. The tower itself will be built on an 18,000m2 (190,000 sq ft) construction site. The Al Hamra Tower will have over 70 floors of office space, a rooftop restaurant and a spa. The shopping center will include a 10-screen cinema complex which will also have IMAX theaters. Kuwait is building the world’s tallest twisting structure. The Flamebar BW11 fire-resistant ductwork system chosen for this project is constructed from galvanised sheet steel, sprayed with a specially formulated water-based fire protective compound. The unique BW11 coating provides a number of distinct benefits that include the provision of in excess of 2 hours insulation when handling internal gas temperatures of 400°C. Flamebar BW11 has been successfully tested for international use, under cellulosic fire conditions, to give in excess of four hours fire resistance in the event of a fire.
